The United Dairy Industry of Michigan (UDIM) is the umbrella organization for the American Dairy Association and Dairy Council of Michigan. These non-profit organizations provide dairy product promotion and nutrition education services on behalf of funding members.

Milk from Farm to Table!

Attention 3-5th Grade Teachers:
Have you seen our new Milk from Farm to Table DVD? It contains everything your students want -and need- to know about where one of Michigan's most widely produced agricultural products comes from, and how it travels from farm to table.
Concepts addressed in the Milk from Farm to Table DVD include:
- Cows and their physical characteristics and basic needs.
- The farm, the environment, natural resources and recycling.
- Consumers, producers, people and jobs.
- Technology, equipment, and the process of milk-making.
- Dairy Nutrition.

First Fuel Breakfast Challenge
United Dairy Industry of Michigan and Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan are pleased to announce a new partnership to help Michigan schools increase the number of students eating breakfast at school and reach their First Fuel Breakfast Challenge goal issued by State Superintendent Mike Flanagan.
To help achieve this goal, Michigan schools can apply for Building Healthy Communities through Breakfast: First Fuel Breakfast Challenge Grants and receive up to $3000 to $9000, based on your school enrollment.
Eligibility Criteria
- Michigan K-12 public, charter, or non-public, not-for-profit schools.
- Willing to start, grow or sustain a breakfast program allows students to eat in the classroom (e.g. breakfast in the classroom, second chance breakfast, grab-n-go breakfast, breakfast vending machines).
- The goal of grant-receiving schools is to raise breakfast participation rates to at least 60 percent of lunch participation rates.

Chocolate Milk: Nature's Sports Drink Grant

Your high school athletes could be the next Michigan Chocolate Milk Mustache Celebrities!
If your high school athletes aren't powering up with low-fat chocolate milk, then this is a great opportunity to get started! Chocolate milk is 'Nature's Sports Drink', and provides many important nutrients needed for overall health, including calcium, potassium, and vitamin D.

Seventy-five (75) fall, winter and spring high school sports teams in Michigan will be rewarded with cash to purchase low-fat chocolate milk for their team to replenish after practices and games for the entire season (cash value determined by size of team), up to two soft-sided wheeled cooler bags for easy milk transport, prizes, nutrition education materials to use for the promotion of Chocolate Milk: Nature's Sports Drink, and a professional print of the teams' chocolate milk mustache photo!
